[resolved] Homepage Meta Title or Description not displaying (13 posts)

    Hello:
Thank you for this great plugin. I installed this recently to our website and I put a homepage description and title. However, none of those settings are showing in search results. All that I see is menu items. Is there a way to ensure that the settings in this plugin overrides any other settings that I may have on wordpress? I am suspecting that there maybe a conflict somehow.
    Here is the website: http://www.olap.com

Appreciate any help that you can offer :)

    Hi HellenO,

I checked the source code of your site and I see meta title and meta description on your homepage as follows:

<title>Business Intelligence and OLAP Technology Resource</title>

<meta name="description" content="OLAP.com is a Business Intelligence(BI) and OLAP technology resource for OLAP and Business Intelligence Tutorials, News, Trends and Strategies." />

Is this not what you entered?

Hi thanks for your reply. Yes this is what I entered initially in the plugin but it was not showing in search results so I entered it manually in the meta tags section of my current theme. I am not sure if what you see(through source code) is what I entered in the theme or is what I entered via the plugin. In any case it does not show up in search results it shows my menu items instead which has moved the site ranking for the term "olap" to page two on Google.

I am trying to figure out how to ensure that I don't keep showing the menu items in display results. Also, I wonder if inserting the meta tag description in the theme will override the manual meta tags that I put in each post through the all-in-one-SEO plugin causing me to have duplicate descriptions.

    Thanks so much :)

    Hi HellenO,

Google doesn't update it's index just because you changed your meta title and meta description. You have to give Google some time to crawl your site and update their index. It looks like Google last crawled your site 1 day ago. Before that it was 12th November.

    Hi wpsmort,
I know that lol, I updated the meta tags before it was indexed and we just launched this new site only to have the menu items showing instead of the description in search results. I am just trying to figure out if I am missing a setting in the plugin or if this has something to do with the new theme that we have now.

    Any insights?

    Hi HellenO,

You keep saying that Google is indexing your menu items but I have no idea what you mean by menu items. When I do a site search for your site it shows up just fine. All in One SEO Pack is working fine so I'm not sure what problems you are seeing.

The title and meta description are not showing on google search while the site is already ranked on first page of google.
I use wordpress seo by yoast in all my sites. This is my website http://miamimansionsforsale.net
When i check the source page html, i can see that the meta description and title are available in the header.
    Please advice.

    Hi minaferi,

Google is showing your title and description for the homepage in SERPS. Go to Google and type this in the search field site:naurdoon.com

Remember Google doesn't have to display what you provide, it's just a suggestion, they can display whatever they want.
