• my website is http://www.brackers.com I created this site with wordpress about 4 years ago or so, and am a savvy wordpress user, but i have minimal coding skills. The site is set to have a dynamic homepage, utilizing (at this time) one of the “Elegant Themes” (specifically, Trim), which I have customized (Previously I have used other themes. I have had this one in place for about 6 months). A little over a week ago, I published a post (post name brackerskc) announcing a new location for our store. Upon publishing, that post “took over” the home page. if you click on the link to my main site (or type it in directly), it automatically redirects to brackers.com/brackerskc. Same thing occurs if you click the logo on the top, which should take a person back to the home page. I disabled all the plugins and the site returned to the regular home page for about 30 minutes, then reverted back to the post, so I don’t think the problem is a plugin. I switched the them to 2012 or 2013 (one of the standard built-in themes), and that did not solve the problem either, so I’ve ruled out the theme. I’m positively perplexed, and any help would be hugely appreciated.

  • Hi Claygirl76,

Go into that post and double check that the permalink of that post is not the same as your entire site URL.

I would also go into, ‘Settings > General’ and confirm that the URL’s are set to the correct domains.

I would also go into, ‘Settings > Reading’ and confirm your front page is not set to a page or post.

thanks. I checked those first, but I don’t think that’s the problem. Post permalink is http://www.brackers.com/brackerskc
    general settings show
    wordpress address (url) http://www.brackers.com
    site address (url) http://www.brackers.com

    Any other thoughts?

    Hm, that is quite strange.

Maybe try refreshing your permalinks? Just go down to ‘Settings > Permalinks’ and hit save.

tried that….even tried changing to a different structure completely. So far, no change, but perhaps its a TTL issue. I’ll let you know. thanks for the ideas!

    Hey Claygirl,

Are you running any redirect plugins? All issues I’ve come across on the forums like this, are related to some redirect plugin causing issues.

I also came across this website, which may hold the answer to your problem. It sounds like this function does exactly what your site is doing.

I guess one last thing I would test, would be create a new temporary post and see if the homepage then redirects to that new post, or if its just redirecting to that one specific Brackers post

brilliant. I turned off redirection. I’ve used it for at least a year, without problem. I guess somewhere along the way, it’s become corrupted. I might try a fresh installation, but that seemed to fix the problem. Thanks so much, you are my hero!
