Hi, I want to include a slider and possible just some text boxes on my homepage (similar to what's used on the Customizr theme) without changing my theme as I really like Something Fishy.

However this doesn't seem possible with Something Fishy when I try to customize it. Is there any way I can do this with the theme or do I need to install separate plugins, if so any suggestions for plugins would also be useful.
    Thanks!

The best you can do is to use Full Width, No Sidebar page template for a page that assigned as static front page. Then install some slider plugin that provides shortcode so you can put it right into content area witout editing template file.

For the text boxes, just code it up in there (switch to Text mode, not Visual mode), and style the boxes in stylesheet. Or use some columns shortcode, so this'll take care of it.
