I was trying to change the URL in the Header title to point to an external site and found a thread on Google that said: go to Settings>General and change the Home URL.

This has now rendered the site useless! WP cannot find any of the pages and I cannot access the dashboard to correct the error. I can manually input ..../wp-login.php and get to there but it will not accept login info. The /wp-config.php shows a blank page as well.

How can I get to the dashboard to rectify the mistake please?

/wp-admin or /wp-admin.php also does not work. I need to rectify this by the morning GMT 9:00am (it's nearly 8pm now)

Does anyone have a solution please?

    FYI
    website: http://www.lineandlightphotographycourses.co.uk
    I changed the HOME_URL to: http://www.lineandlight.co.uk
I need to change it back again asap :S

I have tried that thread already but to no avail. I don't know how to change the 'config.php' if it isn't showing up (see above). I have no idea about the FTP site bit either.

I'm just a user/administrator that tried to change the title url to an external site, now it's ruined.

I can't access coding or have a backup of the database.

    More help required I'm afraid.

wp-config needs to be accessed using FTP or a file manager if your host offers one.

OR in those instructions it talks about doing it through the database, that would also be done on your server

You cannot get back into the dashboard to fix this, by visiting ANY url

It must be done through the backend, through the files, or through the database

can hopefully help you understand about changin url a bit more. You can't simply change the URL, it points to a physical location of files

FTP is a bit freaky to figure out at first, filezilla is a good free prograp. You install it, point it to your server, and transfer files similar to windows explorer

If your host doesn't offer a file manager, and you need to use ftp, just google filezilla and read up a bit. It's easier to understand their help docs, here's another help doc
