Home Top Feature Image not appearing in Blackbird Theme

Hello, I’ve been taking advantage of the wonderful layout Blackbird theme offers, but it seems that very little of the functions are changing the appearance of our website. The Logo at the top of the page is all that seems to have changed. The HTFI (home top feature image from hereon) does not display, nor do any of the other features which should be present on the home page. None of the three icons appeared and what I have on my home page is just our original post that was present on the homepage of our previous 2011 theme.

Currently our “featured image” occupies the place of the HTFI, but doesn’t fill the space nor take on the properties such as the text which should appear with it. After removing the featured image, the image disappears and the HTFI still does not occupy the space.
