    Ola,

I founded the movies site screencomment.com
A few days ago my administrator dropped me and my project like a dirty tissue and handed me admin access.

I’m a non-IT guy and don’t know WP. But I’ve decided that I would try to run some of the plug-in updates myself, with the help of the forum.

Before I start posting more specific queries, I was wondering if any of the elders have words of wisdom to pass on down to me, as far as workflow and best-practices are concerned. For examples, are there areas of the never site I should never mess with? Sorry if the line of questioning is not correct, I’m really not very competent in terms of wordpress.

    Thanks

    AN

Well just some words of wisdom on updating plugins. Do them one at a time! This way if the plugin breaks your site you know which one broke it.

Also making a backup of your plugins before updating is always a good thing just encase it does break.

If the plug-in says “view version x details or update automatically” should I just select update automatically? In other words, is it ever a bad idea to click on ‘update automatically?”

that’s pretty funny. The first plug-in that I attempted to update has gone tits up.
My rating widget is no longer active

    See example here:

Stars should appear in the article header, between the two lines.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks

    Hey Alinaderzad,
Well that is disappointing to hear your first update broke a little. But good news! We just have to fix that one instead of 20 right away!

Have you checked to make sure the widget was not removed on the widget page?
