“(dv) Dedicated-Virtual Pro-Blogger? Take it to the next level with the flexibility of a dedicated environment. * WordPress 1-Click Application Vault installer”

The WordPress 1-Click Application Vault Installer installs Version 2.3. WordPress is now at 3.01 which requires an entirely new install. As a result, I feel lied to. And now that I have installed 3.1, it does not run properly and support won’t resolve my issues with it! Just a Warning!

  • You don’t need to use the 1 click install. You could have just downloaded the latest version from WordPress.org and installed it yourself. I never use those automatic installers because they are always several versions behind and you don’t have full control of the installation. Always better to install it yourself.

As alluring as the feature is, we often recommend against automated installers. They tend to do more damage than good.

Honestly, compared to a lot of CMS solutions out there (and I have tried a lot!) WordPress is pretty much the easiest to install. Period!

As long as you have set up a db (and written down the login details for it), uploaded WordPress to your server, edited the wp-config.php file, ran the installation script – you have a working site in a couple of minutes, literally.

When I first came to WordPress I thought the ‘famous 5 minute install’ was just a gimmick but it’s true 0 it works! 🙂

    Agree!

I always find manual update to be trouble free.

As long as you stay away from the grid service (gs), you will be fine.

I’m new here. I don’t know if I am creating my own website or plugging into an existing one. My desire was to create something of my own. I will download the newest 3.0.1 version of WordPress. Do I need to look for another server after that or am I all set?
And after 3.0.1, what do I do next! I am reading everything I see and attempting to learn about what I am doing as I go. I am hoping to just look up and see myself in print someplace. I would like to write something someplace where people will see it. Where do I click to do that? I have come this far without knowing much so someone take me by the hand and guide me into the majic of cyberspace. Thanks so much.
