   I'm new to WP so a bit of a novice and have run up against a problem with hierarchical menu's.

   I know how to add pages and categories as menu items and it's easy enough to add sub-menu items by identing them to make a hierarchical menu.

   However, I wish to make one of the top level menu items static and not select a page, forcing the user to only select sub-menu items below.

   I'm not really into programming and can't see how to do this in dashboard.

   Any advice appreciated

   Hi,
   Use a "Custom Links" and set the "URL" to just the hash # character.

   "URL" http:// becomes just #
   Give it a "Title"
   "Add to Menu"
   Indent the sub items below
   "Save Menu"
