Hiding/removing attachments

Hi,

When Im displaying an article with single.php, I’m taking out every attachment to show them in another collumn than the content text. How can I remove the images from the content? As of today I’m hiding them with CSS, however, the user still has to load them..

Is there any solution? Perhaps setting a config in wp_query or something.
