I want to hide/redirect the wp-admin folder like in this tutorial:
    http://www.michiknows.com/2007/02/12/who-else-wants-to-hide-their-wordpress-admin-folder/

It seems like this hasn't worked for a while based on the comments. Does anyone know how I can get this working again?

I also fail the askapache-password-protect plugin tests so I can't use that.

    Hi,

To hide the wp-admin..refer this article.... you need to add code in htaccess file and also need to add redirect code as you required..

That is the same code from here:
    http://www.michiknows.com/2007/02/12/who-else-wants-to-hide-their-wordpress-admin-folder/

Also it doesn't work anymore at least with WP 2.7x

Am i thinking too simple now, or is this simple solution simple enough to work?

    My way of hiding wp-admin:
I dont hide the folder, i rename the index.php
This means the folder wp-admin just says "forbidden" instead of the login fields.
Of course - if you know what you renamed your index file - you just type in wp-admin/indexnewname.php and you get to log in.

    Hi,

Add this code in htaccess file and have a check:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} wp-admin/
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !YOURSECRETWORDHERE
    RewriteRule .*\.php [F,L]
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !YOURSECRETWORDHERE
    RewriteRule ^ADMINFOLDER/(.*) wp-admin/$1?%{QUERY_STRING}&YOURSECRETWORDHERE [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    Thanks,

    Shane G.
