[resolved] Hiding Files before log in (5 posts)

    Hi,
This was just the sort of thing I was looking for, a simple log in for customers to go to a separate area where they can download files.
However, I am a little bit confused as to the right way to get this set up.

I have already created a page which is not accessible from any menu - this is where I am testing it out. I have put a link to a pdf on the page which would be the kind of thing customers would want to download.

So I have this page with your Customer Area plugin activated and purchased the Log In Registration add on. But now I'm a bit stuck:

    - The page has the downloadable links visible before anyone logs in

Am I supposed to tuck the 'secured' pages and files into a new folder with the copied theme???

If so , could a simple step-by-step process be added to the "Installation" page on here?

    Thanks, need your help.

    Hi,

The customer area page should only contain the shortcode [customer-area], nothing more. Once that page is setup, you won't have to touch it anymore.

    To create a private file:

    1. Log in the WordPress admin panel
    2. Go to Customer Area
    3. Select Private Files > Add new
    4. Give it a title
    5. (optional) write a description
    6. (optional) assign a category to it
    7. Upload the associated file (box below the description)
    8. Choose the file owner (box below the file upload box) (the user who will see it in his customer area)

That private file will then appear "magically" on the customer area page when the owner logs in (other users won't see it).

    Vincent,
Thanks very much for all your help. The simple list of instructions is all I needed and I have now got this sorted much better.
