Hide the construction (6 posts)

My installation is taking much longer than planned. I need to hide the construction with a start page.

I searched and found some alternatives. Someone suggested adding an index.html page before the index.php page. That didn't work. Some one else said not to do that. I tried renaming index.php to index1.php and I think index.php disapeared.

I found an under construction plugin but it was too complicated.

    Suggestions??

    Thanks

    Frank

    esmi,

This is the one I found too complicated. I downloaded it and there were no instructions.

    Isn't there an easier way?

    Thanks
    Frank

    Andrew,

How do I implement this? Do I make a new index.php file? A new header.php? Do I need a child theme?

I have tried alternative index.php and index.html but they don't seem to work in this php environment.

My experience is what you get is definitely not what you see.

    Thanks

    Frank

You activate the plugin and then flip maintenance mode on. If someone isn't logged in as an administrator, they'll see a splash page saying the site is under construction. If you're logged in, you see the site.
