Hide or obscure change site URL (3 posts)

This may be contentious, but I've seen a whole lot of support posts on here that all start with "I changed my url and broke my site". I can't help but think that under normal circumstances that changing the sites URL shouldn't be as easy as it currently is.

I believe that if you either hide these settings somewhere else, or make then harder to get to and harder to update there's a good chance that users won't face the same issues that they do now. At very least I'd like to see the URL inputs stashed away from the other inputs on the settings page, and have an explanation of what can go wrong, why they shouldn't normally be changed, and some links to the codex to help people if something does go wrong.

All that time, and it's never been thought about any more. :(

I am glad to see that I'm not the first one to think that it was a good idea.
