HERO theme, problem changing text color (12 posts)

    been using HERO theme for my website. All was great with the website till I changed the background to white. I did this but so far have been unable to alter the majority of the white text to a darker color. I've tried everything I know - slowly going through and editing the Style Sheet whenever I notice a color in the html. I'm no html expert and so far it's my one stumbling block.

    I'm working in Word Press, with MediaTemple hosting.

    Just need to know where I change the color for the "welcome", "menu-bar" and side-bars. At the moment the text remains white, on a white bg. I'm very frustrated.

    And I've looked through the Style sheet for the appropriate color to change but so far no luck.

    Would appreciate any help here - as I'm so close to finishing my site - yet at the same time, so far, far away.

    Thanks everyone.

    if you added a link to your site it would be easier to find a problem, but without it, add this at the bottom of your style.css file

    h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, p, a, span {color:#222}

    you can add more tags there, or delete ones you don't need.

    Hi

    Thanks for that. I tried that but doesn't change anything. The menu bar still has white text (it's grey with rollover). And so is the text in other places.

    Here's the link if you think that'll help.

    Thanks

    it helped. :) Change it to this

    h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, p, a, span, div {color:#222 !important;}

    and again, if you need any more tags to be different color, just add them to the list

    Create this style and change this colour:
    For the Welcome message

    .welcome-box h1 {
     color: #fff;
    }

    For the Menu bar

    .nav a, .nav a:visited {
     color: #fff;
    }

    Thanks. Is this to be added to style.css or superfish.css?

    You should not be adding it to the Theme's CSS, have you created a child theme (http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes) or have you this plugin, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/my-custom-css/ ?

    Well, I pasted the code into My Custom CSS Options - and still nothing.

    May just go to plan B - change the design.
