Hemingway Theme-Number of posts on home page (11 posts)

    I am using a hemingway them on my blog (http://rankandfiler.net). I'm interested in having more than two posts appear on the home screen. I spent a fair amount of time looking at help forums (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/hemingway-theme-previous-next-links?replies=18, among others), and think I did everything they asked for. I'm still unable to get more than two posts to appear.

    First, I started off with the simple change in the WordPress dashboard. admin>Settings>Reading>Blog pages show at most X posts, and changed it to 6. Still only two of my posts appeared on my home page.

    Then I went in through WebFTP to /rankandfiler.net/wp-content/themes/hemingway/index.php

    And removed the following code:
    // Here is the call to only make two posts show up on the homepage REGARDLESS of your options in the control panel

    Because I had some interest as well in links to see old posts on the home screen, I replaced it (as a forum suggested) with:

    <?php posts_nav_link(' — ', __('« Older Posts'), __('Newer Posts »')); ?>

    Still only two posts.

    What am I doing wrong? Any advice?

    does your theme have a settings section also that may be over riding the setting in settings->Reading?

    It seems possible. The code I removed, from what I could tell on the forums, was designed to do exactly that. From what I read, however, there shouldn't have been any block once I removed that code.

    if the code specifically states query_posts('showposts=5') that will override anything, additionally, there might be a limit arg being passed somewhere.

    I set that code to 6 before I deleted anything. The homepage still showed only 2 posts. Any ideas?

    Okay, I put the original showpost code back in, set to 6. Definitely not showing any more than 2 posts on the homepage. Arg.

    do you have a category set for the home page? maybe there are only 2 stories in that category?

    What are you referring to? How could I check that? Forgive my ignorance.

    I found this code, inside the themes folder in the file index.php. When I adjust $ count <2 to higher number, I see multiple posts on my homepage, but not in the two-column grid hemingway is designed for. Any ideas?

    have you tried the suggested forum: http://support.warpspire.com/discussions/hemingway

    the whole loop output is limited by this conditional statemnet, starting in line 13:

    <?php if($count < 2) { ?>
    					<?php $count++; ?>

    which ends in line 23:

    <?php } ?>

    remove those lines.

    this does not explain why the 'next/prev' links are not showing;

    can you paste the full code of index.php into a http://pastebin.com/ and post the link to it here?

    Thank you alchymth. I figured it out. Found the answers on http://support.warpspire.com/discussions/hemingway/37-more-than-2-posts-on-main-page/page/1 (which might have been where you were pointing me too). It took changing the code in three different places in the index file. Thanks luckdragon too.

    Here is the index code that successfully displays six posts:
