[resolved] Help...none of my links work (10 posts)

    I absolutely cannot believe the incompentency and subsequent behavior of my web host, iPower.

    Anyway, they were trying to fix my image upload problem (one that happens with IIS servers and WordPress) and broke every link from my homepage. Now, they want to erase EVERYTHING and have me reinstall all of WordPress.

    They will not even allow me to talk to second level people to try to determine what they may have done. Then, they just pretended not to hear me and hung up.

    Help! Does anybody know what could have happened? None of the links on my site work anymore. My site is http://www.thisishowyoudoit.com/blog

    Any good people out there have any idea? This is killing me...thanks, richard

    Well, I'd have to agree with your post about Windows hosts, in fact, you were dead right on just about everything, why are you doing this?

    When you disable your nice permalinks, do your links work again?

    This is absolutely unbelievable. Now, apparently, iPower has gone into my WordPress counsel and CHANGED my whole permalink structure which, most of you know, means that all links to my pages will not be functional. Unbelievable!

    Mechx1, i only just noticed this after apparently you were able to read my top post.

    I imagine that your posts are still there, so you shoulld be able to get through this. Has anyone loaded .htaccess with these changed permalinks?

    So, now my permalinks look like this: http://www.thisishowyoudoit.com/blog/?p=57

    ...because ipower changed them. But they´re suppose to look like this: http://www.thisishowyoudoit.com/blog/index.php/2008/04/10-reasons-why-not-to-host-your-wordpress-blog-on-a-windowsiis-platform/

    My permalink custom box looks like this:

    /index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%

    It´s always worked to produce the effect above. But ipower did something to destroy them. What could they have done? Does anybody have any idea?

    It seems if i switch to default permalinks, everthing works. But even if i use the built in date and time permalinks, it doesn´t work. Help???

    When you go to permalinks in your admin panel, do you see this all the way at the bottom of the page?
    "If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all."
    Has anyone put the code in the window into an .htaccess file and loaded that in your WordPress root?

    Mech, I don´t see that at the bottom. I´m not sure my site uses .htaccess b/c it´s Windows/IIS. At least, I´ve never seen it. The only permalink choice that seems to work is the default. Hmmm...permalink geniuses...are you out there? I really don´t know where to turn.

    I just read this post http://wordpress.org/support/topic/170799?replies=7 about people having these problems after they upgraded. But...I have not even upgraded.

    Can anybody help me? The only permalink that will work for me now is the default. No others. And of course, since I have a bunch of existing content, means that all of my page names have changed and all links within my site and from others to my site don't work.

    Help. Permalink expert. Where are you?

    My ISP still cannot figure out what they did. My permalinks are not working and so no links to my pages work.

    My permalink expert...where are you? What should I check? Help...

    Hello, I found a solution for this. Somehow, iPower deleted entries in my php.ini file. I had to add the following lines back to my php.ini in the root of my website:

    cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1
    cgi.force_redirect = 0

    Thanks for the contributions above,
    Richard
