Helping Fix Bugs - How do I start? (4 posts)

    Hello,

Im looking to become more involved in wordpress, probably from August onwards this year. I would like to know how to get started with fixing bugs? I did read some of the help pages, but it wasn't obvious. Admittadly I didn't have much time for a thorough search. Is there somewhere I need to register (apart from the trac database)? Do I have to become know as a big fixer?

Between now and august I would like to start familiarising myself and get setup for bug fixing.

    Any help appreciated.

P.S. My main job is software development and I run a few wordpress sites.

Let me clarify my question, I understand I will need to use svn to keep in sync with the code repository, and that I will make commits etc.

However by what process are bugs assigned to developers to fix, and how would one get involved with workign on bugs?

    Cheers

Is it just as easy as signing in to trac and using that bug tracking software to say what your working on? and is there any advice for people new to the bug fixes on what are more suitable bugs to work on?

That's probably not a bad place to start.

There are several ways now to contribute. Theme testing, codex updating, submitting patches.
