  • I just upgraded from WordPress.com (http::/lewp.wordpress.com) to WordPress.org (www.LewPBlog.com).
    I’m very frustrated because now when I try to add a YouTube video like I have always done (the direct embed video) WordPress media is asking for the link and making me create a Hyperlink to the video. I don’t want the hyperlink, I want the complete embedded video.

    What am I not understanding here? Thanks

  • Check that you have embedding enabled in Settings -> Media.

    I don’t see an option in media for that. Can you direxct me on how to get there?

    [No bumping, please.]

    Have you tried simply pasting the straight url into a post or page in the editor (don’t have to be in html mode)? YouTube (and a host of other services) should fall under oEmbed standard and render the video embed perfectly.

    esmi is also correct as well that there are settings in the Admin Panel, found under Settings and then under Media. Once in the Media section, make sure you have “When possible, embed the media content from a URL directly onto the page. For example: links to Flickr and YouTube.” checked.

    It can be found here: http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/options-media.php

    Settings -> Media

    Look for ‘Auto embeds’

    When possible, embed the media content from a URL directly onto the page. For example: links to Flickr and YouTube.
