• Hello all,

I am a designer who has been contracted to revise and somewhat rebuild a mutual friends WP store/site. I’ll try to keep this short.

The clients current site was built around a ecommerce style template, but was very blah and lacked any character whatsoever. I managed to us WPduplicator (great plugin by the way) to completely copy the site and all of it’s contents to a different domain on the server where I am editing and implementing new ideas. I found a template via the wordpress templates gallery which I really liked, made a few changes graphically to it and the CSS and everything on the design end is moving along quite swimmingly, but it is not an ecommerce template.

My question is, how can I implement her current product list into the new design? All of her product posts are there in the admin panel, but due to the fact that it’s not an e-commerce template, when you click on “products” you get the description for the product, but no pricing or add to cart (obviously.) The product pictures are not showing up under the products page either (which I can rectify the hard way by reuploading them to feature images) allthough I’d prefer a workaround for this.

I guess my question is…is this possible? Can I use a plugin such as YAK to gather her product posts and turn them into a shopping cart type system? I’m fairly new to e-commerce so it’s a little daunting, but I know it has to be doable.

P.S. – I have the URL’s to both the original website and test website but would prefer not to make them public. If anyone with experience can help, I’d be happy to send them in a message for you to view and give your input on.

    Thank you so much,

  • Hi DJ

I assume you have getshopped’s wpecommerce plugin installed http://getshopped.org/ ? If not, you could try that, and you will have to copy the content of each product post to the wpec product posts instead.

    Best of luck!
