Welcome to WordPress. We’re now going to go through a few steps to get you up and running with the latest in personal publishing platforms. Before we get started, remember that we require a PHP version of at least 4.0.6, you have . Look good? You also need to set up the database connection information in wp-config.php. Have you looked at the readme? If you’re all ready, let's go!
    Step 1
Okay first we’re going to set up the links database. This will allow you to host your own blogroll, complete with Weblogs.com updates.

To me this looks like your server is displaying install.php instead of executing it. Are you sure php is running? Which version?
P.S.: Many people her will be put off answering you because you are posting excessive amounts of code. This is simply unreadable. If you need to, you can save the code in a file and link to it. Or use a pastebin.

    hi serendipity,
Thanks for replying. Sorry about that. I was posting in a hurry and wasn't paying attention. Also, i'm doing this for the first time.
I have an account with midphase. They have PHP 4.3.8 and MySQL is at version 4.0.20-standard. I already have a discussion forum running on my webpage and it works fine. I am really lost.

    Emily,
How did you get it working, Please.
The index.php is getting executed and not the install.php.
    thanks,
    Samy R.

    Samy,
what do you mean "the index.php is getting executed and not the install.php" ?
Did you try to run .../yoursite.com/wordpress/wp_admin/install.php - and you get index.php instead?
