Help with Talian theme? (5 posts)

I have the talian theme loaded on two wordpress blogs.
One is hosted by wordpress, and on this blog, when I click theme editor, it shows the widgets in the sidebar, and lets me configure them, including deleting and moving them around.

the other blog is a WordPress install on my own server. In this version of talian, when I try to manage the widgets, none of the objects in the sidebar show as widgets. I can't find a way to configure them, outside of the sidebar.php option in theme editor. In order to try to move or delete them, it looks like I would have to edit the php.

Can anyone point me towards help with this?

    thanks so much,

are you trying to edit them in wordpress? as in the wp-admin edit page? If so it may be a permissions issue.

i'm trying to use the theme editor in wordpress to edit them. Is there a way to control the permissions, or would this be controlled by the theme designer?

no, you will change the file permissions on your web shell. It is easiest to use a ftp program like filezilla imHo. You will want to set the permissions to 777, though 755 may work- problem is you will want to change those back as soon as you are finished so others don't get into your page and run amuck... that is a bad thing...

What I would rec is you download the files via ftp and edit them using a text editor, and then upload them. this is the safest way to do business.
