   Hello everyone,

   I would like to use a _GET to search for a specific tag within a category. Something along the lines of:

   index.php?tag=sweet+shops&cat=11 (cat 11 being a city, for example)

   Any ideas?

   that would be nifty if WordPress was all programmed-up to that extent, of being able to type that in the URL

   I haven't seen that yet. But there are several plugins that extend the Search functionality a lot, I think some allowing you to search tags AND search-by-category.
