• I have a registration form (I actually didn’t set this site up) and I am trying to find my way around. So at the bottom of the registration form is a checkbox to subscribe for a newsletter, I need to delete it but I cn’t even see where it is on the code file. Here is the code:

    That appears to be the standard wp-login.php. If the checkbox was added here, very naughty! It is very bad practice to alter core files. (Verify by substituting a clean original version) More likely some hook was used to add the checkbox from code residing elsewhere. Unfortunately, it could be from several places. The theme’s functions.php is one, some custom plugin, or a plugin related to newsletters would be another. The actions ‘login_form’ or ‘login_footer’ may have been used. There will also be code to handle the selection in another hook, possibly the ‘authenticate’ filter. Hopefully the code is all together.

    If you have console access, try grepping the themes and plugins folders for the html you see, or if that doesn’t work, the hooks I mentioned. Happy hunting!

    If you have DW or similar code editor, the quickest way to find where the extra checkbox is located is inspect your page with your Code Inspector tool of choice and see if it has an ID or a CSS class you can search for. If not, try searching with a regular expression that would target all <input> tags of the checkbox type.
