Help with permalinks please!

    I’ve been in the process of transferring my website/blog from wordpress.com to a webhost with wordpress.org. In order to make sure my site never goes down, I kept it up on wordpress.com while I worked on it on my new webhost on a temporary name (www.thunderpricescom.ipage.com).

    Now I’m ready to make the full transfer over to the new host, but I’m not sure how to change it from thunderpricescom.ipage.com to ThunderPrices.com on wordpress before I put the domain on the right nameservers. I was told I had to do it in permalinks, but I’m not sure how.

    I think what I’m trying to do it a bit more simple than those instructions.

    My site is already built and ready on thunderpricescom.ipage.com. I just want thunderpricescom.ipage.com to change to thunderprices.com without messing anything up.

    Is there a simpler way to do that?

    No. That is the only way to do it.

    I’m not an experienced user at all 🙁

    I just want to be clear that I don’t have to move anything over from wordpress.com blog. My website is made and ready . I just want people that go to thunderprices.com to come here.

    I’m hoping its not that complicated, because I’m sure to mess it all up and all my hard work will be gone.

    It’s not a wordpress.com blog. It’s a self-hosted WordPress site. And there’s no moving of anything in that link I posted above. I assume you registered the thunderprices.com domain name at least 3 days ago, yes?

    Yeah. I bought ThunderPrices.com when I originally made my wordpress.com blog.

    Your link is explaining how to edit functions and change coding, and all that complicated stuff.

    Maybe I’m miss-understanding what I have to do.

    Ok – let;s take it one step at a time: For a start, I can’t find anything at http://www.thunderpricescom.ipage.com Are you sure that url is correct?

    That’s really weird. It only works when you go to http://thunderpricescom.ipage.com/ and not with the www. I’m hoping this will fix that as well…

    OK – now is WordPress installed in your root domain folder or in a sub-folder?

    Then, assuming that have already updated the name servers so that thunderprices.com already points to your WP site, you need to follow the instructions in Changing_The_Site_URL.
