This article is for WordPress.com hosted sites, but it works just the same for self-hosted sites: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

hi thanks for this, this has almost given me my answer.

here's an example of what i want. when your on my home page and you click on ARTICLES, it will take you to a page of article links like in my example below

    article 1 link
    article 2 link
    article 3 link
    and so on...

and these pages can only be assessed by clicking on these links. so when i create a new page for article 1, how do i make it so it can only be accessed from the article 1 link

thanks so much sorry if im confussing

What you're describing should work, but creating pages will also create links (depending on the theme).

There's a widget you could install to keep those links out of your menus: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/exclude-pages/

What theme are you using? A link to your site would also be helpful.

Looks like your site is on WordPress.COM - so you need to ask in their forums here:

    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

These forums here are for self-hosted WordPress.ORG sites - they're not the same thing but lots of people get them confused!
