    Ive deleted as much stuff from the index.php file
    http://3e-lab.com/info/manifolds3.php

    but for some reason the text links to the home page of the wp install. I cant figure out why its doing it. Ive tried all types of stuff and searched as much as I can.
    somewhere in here is the problem:
    <? // Begin Frontpage ?>
    <?php if (empty($_GET['cat']) and empty($_GET['category_name']) and empty($_GET['m']) and empty($_GET['s']) and empty($_GET['paged']) and empty($_GET['year']) and empty($_GET['monthnum']) and empty($_GET['day'])) {
    if ((! $withcomments) && (! $single)) { ?>

    <div id="content" class="narrowcolumn">
    afdasdfasdfsadf<br>
    adfadf
    <h2>adfoasdfa</h2>
    </div>

    <? } } // End Frontpage ?>

    what i suggest you do it use the write page feature in the admin panel and use this template and name it the same as the templatename.php then choose it as the template when you write the page, you can see what i did here http://lambda.got3n.com/index.php?page_id=18

    <?php
    /*
    Template Name: cahnge this to what you want
    */
    ?>

    <?php get_header(); ?>

    <div id="content" class="narrowcolumn">

    <?php if (have_posts()) : ?>

    <?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

    <div class="post">
    <h2 id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to <?php the_title(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
    <small><?php the_time('F jS, Y') ?> <!-- by <?php the_author() ?> --></small>

    <div class="entry">
    <?php the_content('Read the rest of this entry »'); ?>
    </div>

    </div>

    <?php endwhile; ?>

    <div class="navigation">
    <div class="alignleft"><?php posts_nav_link('','','« Previous Entries') ?></div>
    <div class="alignright"><?php posts_nav_link('','Next Entries »','') ?></div>
    </div>

    <?php else : ?>

    <h2 class="center">Not Found</h2>
    <p class="center"><?php _e("Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here."); ?>
    <?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . "/searchform.php"); ?>

    <?php endif; ?>

    </div>

    <?php get_sidebar(); ?>

    <?php get_footer(); ?>
