• Alright, my problem is the comments in the sidebar of http://www.newstreamz.com will not show up if I make it where users are required to comment. Is there anyway to still let anyone like guests and unregistered users read comments, but have to register to actually comment?

    I hope that’s clear. Thanks!

  • Admin/Settings/Discussion. Tick “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”.

Yeah that’s what I tried, but when I tick that on, the Recent comments or even the comments on each article, they all disappear unless you’re logged in.

In that case, the comments.php file in your theme needs some serious editing.

Yeah, the theme is a custom job, I took over as admin for it when the guy took off to do his own thing. Been learning wordpress and php as time goes on. Any tips on where to start? Could I swipe a comments.php from another free theme or the like without making the blog blow up?

You could try using the comments.php file in the default theme as a template and build that up. You’ll probably need to do a lot of class adding, I’d imagine. or drop a copy of your current comments.php into the WordPress pastebin and post the pastebin url here. Perhaps some will be able to suggest a simple edit that will open up the commenting again.
