Help with creating 3 Column layout in Twenty twelve

    I am very much the newbie and could use some help. i am trying to create a 3 column layout in 2012 and using a child theme. I am following the tutorial on Zeaks.org and do not see the new widget areas.Any help on what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
