Hi - sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place but I'm a little frustrated right now. We are trying to add a new page to our site and we want it to have categories contained therein. We have another page that has this (designed by our host, but we now have full access as he is too busy to help us).

We've made the new page with very little pain. However...how the HECK do we get it so that when a user clicks that page, a list of the categories will come up. We know how to fill the categories, because we've done that on our other page.

Feel so stupid. We've been trying for three days now to get this to work and the best we've been able to do is to add colour to one of the page names - woohoo! Please explain in "OMG this woman is too stupid to live" terms if at all possible.

    Thanks!

Do you want to have the same categories shown up as in the other page?

Ok, just to get you right .. you have a website with currently one page and the categories show up within the page. And now you want a second page with other categories?

Could you post the link to your site please!

    hi - yes, it's http://www.marbroconsulting.com

we want the Candidate Database to be set up the same way the Job Postings page is set up.

I really appreciate any help you can give us - thanks so much!

You can either edit the page "Candidate Database" manually by adding and linking all categories (you need to create the categories before you do that) or you can copy code of the job posting page and make some changes so it grabs the right categories + adding some stuff to the header.php. Either way would work.

I did something similar by just adding a hyperlink to the title of the new page. (AS in, when you go to write the page and it has a place for the title, I added a hyperlink in that space.) The link works great.

OK, once again, I'm sorry....not understanding either response here.

To Do77: we have created the categories....so HOW do we link them? The only options I see when I'm editing that page are:

    Advanced Options
    + Custom Fields
    + Comments & Pings
    + Password Protect This Page
    + Page Slug
    + Page Parent
    + Page Order
    + Page Author

If I hit the Link Categories button, it does bring up the list of categories but there is no option to actually link them?

To TheOrganicSister: I tried doing your suggestion and all that shows is the URL of the page of new categories...not sure if I'm doing it right? I tried copying and pasting the link into the title box, but it's just coming through as text (without a hyperlink) as the Link button doesn't activate as it does when you link in the body of the page.....?

The best think would be to change the php files so you don't have to link anything! But if you are not advanced in it you should do the following:

You should open the Job Postings page and take a loot at the page source. Copy the way the categories are linked there. Paste it into your new page and change the links to the one's you want. You need to figure out the category ID's. There is a plugin to do so.

That should work but is for sure not a very elegant way to do it!

Are you hyperlinking it or just pasting the link? This is the easiest source I found for creating a hyperlink. If you are hyperlinking perhaps it won't work with some themes. That I don't know. I'm pretty inexperienced and just took the easiest route I could. ;)
