Someone made the website for me using wordpress. I know how to make basic changes, but I believe the way he has it set up , only he can make changes to format of the site. Is there a way I can access it? I need to change a few things but do not have the option to from my menu

IMHO, two options:
- learn the basics and advanced topics of WordPress: http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress
- hire someone to open the site for you
