Help needed: Site structure

Hi everyone,

I need your help regarding the structure of my site.

I’m planning a site about book reviews. Since every post will feature a certain book, I thought of using the categories for the books’ authors. That means that every category will represent a single author.
Besides, I also want to include some kind of blog dealing with everything around (apps about reading, site reviews, book art etc). Though that has nothing to do with the reviews themselves, I want to include both the latest X reviews and the latest X blog entries on the index page.

Has anyone of you had issues like these, or has anyone got a tip on how to do that?
By using the certain authors as categories, I will be able to include a list of all reviews so my readers can search for a certain book more easily. How can I seperate the reviews from the odd blog posts?

Or does anyone have a better idea on managing the reviews and the books’ authors?

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
