• PLEASE can someone have mercy and help me I’ve spent literally the past 24 hours researching the WordPress tutorial and reviewing the Forum trying trying to figure out why my templates keep changing each time I compose a new post.

I have three issues going on and I’m about to PULL MY HAIR OUT.

    1. I have written three blogs and I chosen three different templates. I am completely frustrated. Each time I create a post and select a new template skin I lose the previous template.

    http://blog.affiliateprofitmasters.com

The SeNuke Best SEO Tool theme skin has now changed to the current skin.

Does anyone know how I can save my previous themes so that when people visit my advertised site they won’t see the same theme.

    2. Does anyone know how I can seperate my post so that I only show a single post. I don’t want compiled post all showing up one page.

    3. Does any one know how to edit the Category field it looks greyed out like it’s sealed and can’t be edited. I have information still showing up on my page from a previous post.

Thanks guys sorry to be long winded as you can guess “I’m a WordPress newbie”…

  • 1. You can only apply one theme to a whole site. You can’t apply different themes to different posts.

    2. Admin/Settings/Reading. set post per page to 1

    3. How many categories do you have in total?

Thank you so very much for your reponse please help me I AM GOING TO NEED YOU TO WALK ME THROUGH …

As a reward I’m starting a very profitable Wholesale business and I would love to tell you more.

At any rate I’m broken and really need help.

When you state Admin/Settings/Reading. set post per page to 1 honestly your talking wayyy over my head I have no idea what you are referencing.

Please break down I have a Skype Account and I’m willing to meet you in person my Skype Address is prosperous12 my name is Alfred Vernon.

I will have ongoing multiple post as of to date I have there post.

All I want is to be able to keep each theme that I create and at this point I’ve been losing my theme each time I create a new post.

I don’t have any categories how do I set up categories and what impact does that have on various themes.

I GUESS I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SEPERATE EACH POST AS A STAND ALONE. My goal is to have ongoing post with changing themes that stay. At this time each time I create a new post with a different theme, the theme changes and right now ALL MY THEMES LOOK THE SAME.

YOU ARE BAD AS HELL I’VE SEEN YOU APPEAR EVERYWHERE LIKE A KNIGHT!

I wish I were half as good as you…

    Thanks for stopping by…

Okay, I think part of your problem is with confusing the terms “template” and “theme”.

A WordPress “Template” refers to the file that WordPress uses to render pages on your site, depending on what that page contains. If the page contains your home page, the template used will probably be “index.php”. If the page contains a single post, the template will be “single.php” If the page contains a static WordPress Page, the template used will be “page.php” (or whatever custom template you choose for that page).

A WordPress “Theme” is a collection of those templates, all organized and released together. They are all styled in similar manner, and they give your site its overall look and feel. I believe the “skins” you are referring to are Themes.

For more on WordPress Templates, see

    For more on Themes, see

    1. I have written three blogs and I chosen three different templates. I am completely frustrated. Each time I create a post and select a new template skin I lose the previous template.

What do you mean by three blogs? I see only one URI. To have three separate blogs, you would have to have three separate installs of WordPress running (unless you run WPMU…). When you say you select a new template skin, where did you make that change? If you went to your “Dashboard”, selected the “Appearance” section, and then selected the “Themes” sub-listing, then changed the theme there: yes, you will start using the theme you selected, and yes, your site will not display the old one anymore.

    2. Does anyone know how I can seperate my post so that I only show a single post. I don’t want compiled post all showing up one page.

If you mean that you want only one post showing up on a page at one time, follow @esmi’s advice. The abbreviation he used (Admin/Settings/Reading) means “go to your Dashboard” (Admin/), “look in the Settings section” (Settings/), “and find the Reading sub-listing”. For Example, the instructions I gave you earlier could be written as “Admin/Appearance/Themes”.

    3. Does any one know how to edit the Category field it looks greyed out like it’s sealed and can’t be edited. I have information still showing up on my page from a previous post.

The category field tells WordPress what Category that post belongs to. For example, you might have a “recipes” category, and a post about “cake mixes” would go in the “recipes” category. The Category field will be greyed out until you have created one or more categories besides the default one. The only reason changing the category of a post would matter is if you have a custom template which displays the archive of that Category differently.

My goal is to have ongoing post with changing themes that stay.

You have to be a little more specific. What exactly needs to change between templates? Are the templates linked to the post itself? How many of these posts are you going to have? Why is it really necessary to have the template constantly changing?

I hope I have made things a little more clear, and my information is helpful and relevant. It sounds like this is a question which will not go away by itself, so feel free to post back with any more information.

    Thanks Mindblender 3D,

Because I am a WordPress newbie my techno jardon is not up to speed, but I assure you that I’m working to getting there ..)

It is not my intention to confuse anyone especially help. It is important for me to keep changing my WordPress templates because I have a CPA Network Company and naturally I want my templates to t are reflect the subject matter of my ad / post.

I have already attempted to review the suggest theme tutorial links above, but I do not recall seeing instructions that teach you how to save your templates for each newly created post.

You are correct,I ONLY HAVE ONE BLOG, and I have created three post to date.

My problem is that Category information that appears on my blog regarding my SeNuke post is bleeding into my Penny Stock Prophets post WHICH NEITHER HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER. I don’t how to correct problem.

Basically, all I want is to be able to save the different templates that I creat for each post, so that when a prospect reviews the post the template will reflect the topic, or have nice theme.

I DIDN’T WANT ALL MY POST TO HAVE THE SAME TEMPLATE, some of my subject matters don’t match the previously used templates.

But if there is no way to save templates I risk my template not matching my post subject matter.

Anything that you can recommend is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

    Thanks,
    FirstLadyCPA 🙂

Have you considered using Pages instead of Posts and creating custom page templates?

Okay, cpaprofits, I think I have a better idea of where we are going now.

It is important for me to keep changing my WordPress templates because I have a CPA Network Company and naturally I want my templates to t are reflect the subject matter of my ad / post.

What exactly has to change on the templates? How are the templates supposed to reflect the subject matter? Is it a simple layout issue, or is it a matter of a complete design change?

If you are only going to have a few posts (like the 3 that you already have, and several more), you should consider changing the content type to Pages. These are static elements, and can be directly called from your site navigation bar. If you put your content into that format, it is easy to change the “template” like esmi suggested above.

My problem is that Category information that appears on my blog regarding my SeNuke post is bleeding into my Penny Stock Prophets post WHICH NEITHER HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER. I don’t how to correct problem.

“Category information”. What is this information, and where is it “bleeding” into the other post?

But if there is no way to save templates I risk my template not matching my post subject matter.

Again, how is the template supposed to match the subject matter? Is it a matter of color? Is it a specific header image? Is it the spacing of the paragraphs? What is it?

For these situations, I do have a couple ideas.

    • If the “template” just means changing some minor layout issues or some custom header graphics, it should be pretty easy to do with Custom Page Templates. A relevant thread is located here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/392492?replies=2.
    • If the “template” means changing the entire design of the site, there is a way to integrate an entire separate theme. It is conceivable to use the code from the other theme’s index.php (or similar), and past it into a Custom Page Template. Using a PHP “include” statement, it might be possible to call the other theme’s header, footer, and sidebar.

Either way, the modification will require some moderately extensive XTML, CSS, and possibly PHP modification. If I am analyzing your situation correctly, you may need to hire some professional help. If what I describe still doesn’t quite seem to fit your needs, just post some more relevant information back here, and we’ll work from there!
