   Hi,
   This is my first time with wordpress, after hearing a lot about it i finally moved to it. To give the background i was earlier blogging with blogger(no need to worry about sitemap and .htaccess etc,the reason i am asking here)

   Please forgive me if i an asking stupid,

   1. I am hosting the wordpress blog on a paid server and with a custom domain, Help me generate a sitemap, How do i do it?

   2. Whats all this about .htaccess? WordPress gives a code when i try to change the URL format, How do i go about it?

   3.since its been just an hour in this , would you mind if i ask for more help?

   i am trying to create a blog where users can download things(thats why i switched to private host with wordpress) but the wordpress CMS won't let me upload things(other than media, that too upto 2 MB) How do i create downloadable links for other file types and of greater size? Will Uploading a file through a FTP client and giving it 666 permission make it downloadable in ABSOLUTE address link?

   I guess this thread will help me and many others who are starting. (Yes, i tried to search for possible answered questions, but none seemed to help)
