• OK, first I want to say that I’m not a web developer…so I ask that you please explain everything as if you were talking to someone who knows very little about development and website stuff.
I started my site a couple days ago and it was working just peachy. No problems. Then I decided to change my home and site url to have a “www” in front of it…
so they both looked like this:
    http://www.shelbynicolemakeup.com

I double, and triple checked that they matched. They did. Afterwards…it logged me off. Which is normal. But when I tried to type my site address in …..This little gem came up:

    This site is under development

This page indicates the webmaster has not uploaded a website to the server.

For information on how to build or upload a site, please visit your web hosting company’s site.

I walked away from my computer and came back a couple hours later. My site was back up..I was able to log in…everything was just sunshine and rainbows. I was happy. I thought everything was fine. WRONG.
This morning I wake up to the birds singing and the bold aroma of coffee. I thought..today is a good day. I get on my computer and try to pull up my website. The same “blah blah blah under development” hoopla pops up and I lose it. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD.
Again, I allow my frustration to subside before I return to my computer. I’m feeling patient.. I’m feeling hopeful. Guess what! it worked again, I could log in and see my website.
BUT WAIT. I come back about an hour ago..and IT’S GONE. Same stupid message.

So, do any of you lovely people know WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON…and how do I fix it?!?! Thanks.

  • It sounds like there’s either some caching issues on your browser or your ISP’s side thats serving that older page when it’s not meant to be doing that, or your hosting account is set up so that it serves the ‘coming soon’ page for www. and your site for non-www. requests. If it’s a cahcing issue you can try and clear your browsers cache, and maybe talk to your ISP to see if they can do anything, but they don’t normally do much with those requests. If it’s the hosting then talk to your hosting company and ask them to double-check what’s happening.

Might it be a propagation issue?
