I'm on Westhost, with a mid level account, and i want http://www.mydomain.com to be where people see wordpress. I don't want to use a 300 redirect or anytihng similar; i just want to move whatver files in I want to in wordpress for this to work.

The end result is this: when someone goes to http://www.mydomain.com, they see what's now in http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress.

    I appreciate your help.

You can simply move all of your wp files into your webroot.

As long as you only have relative links to images, etc. (no hardcoded links), it should work just fine.

However, if what you want to do is leave the files in the subfolder where they are now, and have http://www.mydomain.com point to that folder, your webhost will have to change your webroot folder to point to the wp folder. It's nothing major really.

See Moving_WordPress for one approach. That page also references "Giving WP it's own directory" which may also be a consideration.
