   I want a simple layout to that will have 3 button (Prev., Random, Next). It will hold either pictures or text.

   xkcd.com is a great example

   How do I do that?

   for 'next/random/prev' buttons, see: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/random-post-link-help?replies=8

   these buttons link to posts; you can make posts with text, or images.

   if I wanted to make the next/random/previous pictures instead of text...how would I do that?

   the suggested code if for next/random/prev posts, so you would need to have posts with pictures, without text.

   if you want the pictures like in a gallery, try searching for a gallery plugin, which might have this functionality.
