• Ok, trying to set up worpress.org on my mac using dreamweaver (9.0) and CuteFTP. I’m trying to set it up on my current website (notsam.com) through network solutions.

I changed the config file in texteditor and saved as, as the instructions said, then uploaded the whole folder to the main directory via CuteFTP. I set up an SQLdatabase at network solutions specifically for this, I did this days ago.

What on earth am I missing here? I’ve never done this before, so are there any steps you think I may be missing? Please help! Thanks

    “Error establishing a database connection”

Step one would be to re-check and confirm your database details with your host, and then again in the config file just to make sure everything is correct.

Looking through the posts this afternoon I came across yours. Not sure if you have solved the problem. I changed the MySQL hostname in the wp-config.php file. It was ‘localhost’ and I replace it with the server name. The server name is found under Configurations/Database Manager on the left side of the web hosting panel. Once you set up a mySQL Database the server name will be supplied along with the Username and Password. Hope this helps as it worked for me.
