Hi there,
I haven’t used Oxygen theme personally, however looking at their demo it seems you have to have add the recent articles or more articles sections on the homepage for the right sidebar to display. Are there any options to enable this content section on the homepage? (using the home template)

No I had it working and tried to install a calendar widget, lost it, then uninstalled the calendar and now the sidebar won’t come back!
You have this inline CSS (not part of the original theme) that hides everything that comes after the slider:
<div class="content-wrap" style="display:none;">

I’m still pretty new to CSS and coding, where can I find that inline style so I can remove it? Thank you so much for your help!

Try deactivating plugins to explore whether any could be responsible.

I did that the minute I saw it happening, but it doesn’t make a difference.

Have you thought about reinstalling the theme again?

I wasn’t sure what I would lose as a result, and I was told by an instructor that it wouldn’t make a difference?

I guess I could backup the main css file which I’ve tweaked, and then reinstall and paste back over it. Not sure what else a reinstall would affect?

If you’ve made no changes to the theme’s files, then no, reinstalling won’t make a difference.
Backup the entire theme you have running on your site, especially if it’s modified (which you shouldn’t do by the way). Then delete the wp-content/themes/oxygen folder and install a fresh copy of the theme.
Theme modifications should be applied to a child theme: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
