• Hi there,
I’ve been reading all the posts I can find regarding missing comments box but haven’t figured out my particular problem. It seems that perhaps one of my old plugins may have messed with the code?

Can someone help me figure this out? I want to get my blog up and running again.

    Thanks much!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thank you for our quick reply
Yes – I’ve tried switching between the default and blog page settings – no

ok – I deactivated all the plugins that I am not currently using.
I’ll try the remainder of the ones that are not completely necessary.

Is this always a plugin related problem?

I’m using Elegant Themes. Is this problem known to be related to their themes – do you know?

Did you carry out any of the other steps I suggested above? All of them are a necessary part of basic troubleshooting.

    Ok here’s everything I’ve checked:

On the top of the page: both discussion and comments boxes are ticked.
On the page info at the bottom – the allow comments button is ticked.

I’ve deactivated the plugins one at a time and none of that made a difference.

I deleted the plugins that I’m not using.

What is going on here….. I used WordPress on my old blog and this was never a problem… I used the same plugins…

Please try the steps I suggested above.

Ive done everything above except the complete php re-set. What will that do to all my content (which is created with the plugin Thrive Builder…. and how badly could I destroy my site with that?

    I deactivated everything else manually.

    Ok – I just discovered something….

I had created a page named blog – on that page I put my blog post.
Next to that on the menu was a category I had created “Leading”
So when I clicked on Leading – it gave me an excerpt of the blog post – when I clicked ‘see more’ it gave me the post with a comments box.

When I had my wordpress blog – it was my blog page that allowed for comments. I’ll have to see how this works out with the editor – but I think I may have a solution for now.

Still – no ability to get comments on any of the other pages… but I don’t want them there anyway.

I made the blog page private as it seems I don’t need it. But… how will people know I have a blog if it doesn’t say “blog” ?

Can you please give advice? Maybe I just name the category: Blog? 🙂
