[Help] Local Video won't embed (6 posts)

    Hi there,

I'm having trouble embedding video I've created and uploded to my own web server.

I'm using WordPress version 2.7, that I have installed myself onto my own webserver, I have no problems embedding my own images via the media library to my posts, but video doesn't seem to upload properly.

I followed the tips in the sticky at the top of this forum, but when I uppload video using either the flash or browser uploader, the video displays as a blank thumbnail and when it is embedded I only get a link to download the file instead of the WordPress video player.

I've also tried using plugins such as embed-quicktime, but with no luck.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Alebie.

    Hi,

I would like to suggest you to use YouTube to upload videos and then add that video code in your wordpress blog as wordpress is more compatible with it..

However, please check the proper MIME Types are added for wordpress blog and Video File is not corrupted..

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

Hi Shane, thanks for the advice.

Using YouTube is not going to be good enough, these will be fairly high quality videos in Quicktime format, as far as I can tell the functionality should be there in WordPress, but it doesn't seem to work :(

How do I go about checking the MIME types? Is this something done whilst encoding the video?

The videos work fine when I run them locally, or embed them directly in a regular HTML page.

I am having the same trouble, I too do not want someone else to host my videos when I have my own domain. I don't want my videos of my children in public domain. Nothing I seem to do makes my videos work! It would be great if this could be resolved.

There isn't much to resolve. You just need a player. There are many, many .flv player plugin options available and some also support .mov's. See if there is anything helpful in this thread.
