    Hello Forum,

I need your help BIG TIME. In the Reading Settings window on my Dashboard I have somehow lost the 'Front Page Displays' options.
It only starts with the choice 'Blog pages show at most' and the rest below that.
I was working on adding new posts to my website and am not sure what I clicked, or unclicked, to make the above option disapper.
I need the 'Front Page Displays' options as I am making one of my Pages, which is the Home page, my Static Page. I had successfully done this earlier but somehow have lost it :( The website I am making is for a small business and not a blog.
I would appreciate any help as I am a complete novice at web designing.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Did you add any plugins? Start by turning them off.

I added the Date Exclusion SEO plugin but did deactive it later as the theme I was using was very complex; in order to remove the date and author from the posts I had to overwrite CSS style rules first before I could make any changes to the style. I have also tried to upload other less complex themes but I still am unable to find the Front Page Displays option. I was using the Weaver Theme, which I rather liked, but not sure what theme to use now as none I have used so far have brought back the Front Page Displays option.

  4. Okay.

Turn off ALL your plugins. Yes. All. If you can't, go in via FTP and rename the plugins folder to plugins-old.

Then switch to the twenty-ten theme. See if it comes back.

I have just changed it back to the Weaver theme as it shows most of the changes I have made, as opposed to the others which do not show all the changes made in the right hand column. The text visible on the main page is not meant to be there. I already have the text I need for my home page but it is not showing up when one goes to the homepage.

I am so frustrated now. Is there a way I can completely delete EVERYTHING on WordPress and start again? I know its a drastic move but right now I am at my wits end. Its taken soooo long for me to get to this point...but if deleting wordpress and starting again is my only hope I might as well bite the bullet and do that...*not a happy bunny lol*

  8. I would export (and backup) all your posts before I did that, but of course you can wipe out WP and start over.

    1) Delete all tables in the DB
    2) Delete all files on your server.

    Then start over.

Thanks for the advice. I have contacted my webhost and they have deleted it and I have started all over again. I think in future I shall ask the forums advice rather than relying on youtube videos lol Thanks again for the help.
