Hi - before I start getting into an argument with my hosting company - who already claim that the issue is with my ISP rather than their hosting, can anyone see welookwelike.com? I was editing it via my phone last night using the wordpress app and then it's been down since about 9am this morning. Not sure if the two are related or not?

I can see the site on my phone via 3g, but not on either of the wifi connections available to the house. I can't login to the wp dashboard via 3g though - the app keeps saying that there's an issue with the site.

All i"m getting in my browser on my mac is 'the server cannot be found'.

    HELP!

    Ta

Ok. Odd. Any ideas on why I can't login to the wordpress dashboard at all? or can't even see the site?

    I'm on a mac.

Other sites are loading just fine. It just seems to be that one! Which is a pain as I need to edit it :(

Yep I can see the site whilst viewing with 3g on my phone however I can't access it via my wordpress app on my phone / iPad.

I'm getting the 'It seems your WordPress site is not accessible at this time' error.

It seems there is some DNS problem with your ISP ( I am talking about your Mac).

Try from other location, where is another ISP.

Ask your friends, go to library.

Well you see I've two separate internet connections coming into the house. One with O2 and one with Sky.

Neither are allowing me to see my site / access the dashboard.

Find some free proxy servers to bypass your ISP.

Nope - no joy on the PC laptop either.

Can you see the page http://www.welookwelike.com/wp-login/ ?

Thanks for all your help btw :)

Ok will do. Although not technically minded that way. Should I log help desk call to my ISP as well to tell them to fix the issue?

Just to make sure, clear your browser's cache and cookies.

If you are still unable to see your site, call your ISP.

Hello - unfortunately 1&1 - although it wasn't related to the hosting as others could see the site.

My ISP has reset my static IP which as worked.

Spoke too soon. I still cannot access my dashboard area and now I can't see my site again. WTF?

Who is your site hosted with?

Mine is also with 1&1 and only started this morning.

What your experiencing is the same as me then. You have a fresh IP, I have a dynamic one so just reboot the router, and you can get to the site, as soon as you try to login it won't access anymore. I reboot the router and pick a fresh IP and it works again until I try to login.

The strange think is, once I have a fresh IP on the router I can access from any device in the house, once I can't access on 1 device it stops the rest.

I have a feeling it's something to do with 1&1 then, the IP must be getting blocked.

Yes! This is exactly the same issue that I'm having!

I've put 2 support tickets into 1&1 and they've not replied.

    Have you heard anything?

I've just rang 1&1 and they do believe they have a problem, but not sure what it is and are looking in to it.

At least I now know it's not my fault and I haven't done anything to the site.

Who's your ISP? I'm with BT.

The guy I spoke to wanted to know my ISP and also my IP address to check on it as they're not sure if it's just one ISP getting blocked or others.

I'm with O2. And there's also a SKY connection to the house as well (also not working)

I was panicking it was something I had done too - relieved its not!

Keep me up to date with how you get on :)

    Let's do some homework. :)

    Open your Mac's 'Terminal'.

    Type

    traceroute www.welookwelike.com

    hit Enter.

Copy and paste the results. You may do not paste a few hops in the very beginning if you are concerned about your privacy. :)

May I also suggest that you try resetting your cable modem or router? I've known of similar cases where this has been the problem.

@vikkineal: I can access your site just fine using Virgin Net

Already reset the router. Emptied cache. Cleared cookies. Switched everything off and on again. Its exactly the same issue that @Punky73 is experiencing.

Not sure what this trace route thing is but here are the results - not sure what hops to edit

traceroute to http://www.welookwelike.com (82.165.22.127), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

    Thanks.

My last hop and your last hope ( just kidding, sorry, can't resist the pun)

    14 vl-1991.gw-ps13.bap.rhr.de.oneandone.net (217.160.127.80) 122.836 ms 115.414 ms 116.700 ms

On the serious note it's identical to your last hop.

    Are you still seeing

    the server cannot be found'

    ?

  28. vikkineal

Yep - the error message is

Safari cannot open the page because the server where the page is located isn't responding

    What do the hops mean?

Traceroute is a utility that records the route between your computer and your server. It also displays the amount of time each hop takes. If you cannot reach your site, a traceroute will help us determine the issue.

    We both reached vl-1991.gw-ps13.bap.rhr.de.oneandone.net

It's the last domain name pointer.

The next is only your host. They could mess up with their firewall, IMHO

Ok - so it's nothing I've done / my ISP have done.
Cool - thanks so much for your help :)
