• Hi,

I’m currently using WP 2.0.5 at GoDaddy and I want to move to BlueHost and upgrade to WP 2.1 at the same time.

Please help how to do this properly because I want to bring all of my posts, pages, plugins, themes and other customization?

    I really appreciate your help.

    Aldian.

  • BlueHost is Fantastico enabled, which means you can do one click install. Personally, I would do this in two steps. Move your stuff to the new host first, make sure it works, then deal with your upgrade. I think you’re asking for major headaches doing both at the same time. When you switch hosts all you’re doing is moving your contents from one company’s servers to another. They’ll move whatever is there.

Also, check your plugins – they might not all work in 2.1 so maybe it’s wise to wait and after moving your stuff… upgrade only to 2.0.7. for security reasons.

BTW, move is working well only between same versions!!!

Actually, I’d reverse that. Upgrade first, then move.

Why? Because 2.1 includes the new Import/Export feature, which makes moving your posts and such from the old blog to the new blog a *lot* simpler. But you need 2.1 on both ends to do that.
