    Hello,

    Site - http://www.mapleroadinc.com
Server - IIS 7.0 with MySQL and PHP 5
    Wordpress Version - 2.9.2-IIS

    My situation -

My webserver was formerly serving static html webpages. Recentely, I decided to switch to a proper CMS and picked WordPress. I only have FTP access to the area where my former static html pages were located. Before I switched, I had the server's admin create a database for me to use called "56723_xxxxxxxxx" with the user "56723_xxxxxxxx" and a password. However, at this moment, I'm not sure what permissions this user has been given. Additionally, I edited my "wp-config.php" file to reflect my database name, user, password. The "DB_HOST" parameter is set to 'localhost'.

After the database was created, I FTP'd the contents of a fresh 2.9.2-IIS "wordpress" folder to folder I have access to on my server.

I then tried to run the wp-install.php script.

    No luck.

The problem is when I go to my site and try to run the install script, I get the 500 error code.

What am I missing? I've never had to install WordPress manually/outside of a SimpleScript or cPanel. Forgive me for being clueless.

    Thanks in advance,

    saintphilip

An error 500 is an internal server error. You'll have to check the server error log for a full description of the error. Try generating the error again, note the date and time, and immediately check your server error log for anything relevant.
