   I am not a computer person..paid a handsome fee for our new site and have been left holding bag...not even sure which version of WP am using
   SEO is my concern..but have no idea where to start..reading in wordpress took me here..

   You are at right place mate. Just follow the basic steps always.

   Make post about your site which you are making daily or weekly as you want.

   Always use Wp basic plugins for your website which will help you most.

   Tell what your future plans are for your site.

   Yes, always try on the WP basic plugins. Don't fall into scams like they will improve your SEO and page rankings and you then have to pay for a hefty amount for it.
