Help finding ecommerce theme/plugin (4 posts)

I'm trying to find a theme or plugin to set up an online store. However, I'm looking for specific capabilities that I haven't found yet in any ecommerce themes I've tried.

    Here is an example:

    http://imaging-expressions.mybigcommerce.com/floating-gallery-wrap-frame/

I was able to configure that test product page using my trial with BigCommerce, but figure if I could find a WP theme that will allow me to do this, I could save my boss money by doing this all myself through WP. In Bigcommerce, there is are basically "rules" you can set -- "If customer selects X option, then Y image will display"-- that sort of thing. He really wants the selections the customer makes to be reflected in the product image that displays.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Those options are controlled by your store software, not your theme. You can use this plugin with WordPress and use any theme you want:

Thank you for the help! However, my goal is to not have anything on the BigCommerce website. It seems as if that plugin is just a way to access/link products on BigCommerce from a WP theme. I want a fully functional store through WordPress, with the ability to customize like the example I show above.

Am I going about this the wrong way? Is WordPress just an interface to manage an online store, but I'd need to install something else to actually get the store running?

Sorry for my ignorance, I'm coming from a graphic designer's perspective and still learning the WP ropes.

Yes that is exactly what the plugin is. WordPress is not a store. You need a separate store from your WordPress installation. There are plugins that will help to integrate the two such as the one I posted. I am aware of at least one that will use your existing WP database but I am more comfortable with two different databases. Do a plugin search for terms such as "ecommerce" and "store" to see what is available as a plugin.

You can use virtually any ecommerce platform. Having a plugin just makes the integration easier.
