• Hope someone can help me. I am still building my new site and am using WordPress.
I have been researching and watching videos on SEO, especially on canonical urls and have posted a question at the Google help section and still no answer.

Here is my concern: Even though my home page shows my domain name in the browser, when I look at my source code, it is showing the canonical URL with the default page number that WordPress uses, not even the pretty permalink I have it set to, which is recommended for SEO, and I did change my permalink structure from the default one. My
permalinks do work properly, but WordPress seems to automatically set the default URL even for home page.

What should I do here? I do not want Google to think I have more than one home page. I want my home page to point to my domain name, only, and it does in the browser, but I’m afraid that the the page URL with the number, generated by WordPress, is what will be indexed by Google, instead of my true domain URL?

Should I use a canonical URL pointing to my domain name for my homepage? Thanks in advance.
