    Hi,

I was working on my new website, and for some reason I clicked on the "GENERAL" settings and typed in a different URL than the actual URL wordpress site I was working on. Reason why I did that is because my web designer was working on building a new website using a URL that I wanted to change over. So I took it upon myself to go in the "GENERAL" settings and replaced the original URL of the site and put down another URL.

Now not only can I not login to that website, but the ENTIRE website design and theme has crashed. Whenever I try to login to it, it keeps on taking me back to the new URL that I put down. I'm so lost here! Can anyone help????? Thank you!!!!

You have posted your query in a wrong place as you are dealing with Normal WordPress installation.

    Anyway,
I guess you have changed "WordPress address (URL)" option from your "GENERAL" setting which defines the location of your wordpress installation. That's why you are facing this problem. Which can be fixed easily by restoring the correct location. But for that you should have access to your WordPress DataBase.

    STEPS:
    1.Open your DB
2.Find the options table called "prefix_options" (Default Name: wp_options)
3.Browse your wp_options table. Inside that, you should have your modified url under siteurl option.
4.Edit your new URL and replace it with the old one.

And you will be done! :)

Ok I followed all the steps you listed and changed it back to the original URL... but now when I try to login to the wordpress admin blog for the site, it still re-directs me to one of the other websites. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I'm sure this is an easy problem to fix but unfortunately I'm a newbie and the girl I hired isn't really doing much to help. You guys have helped much more than she has!

Does it take some time before the change takes place or is there any other steps that I'm missing here? Because the site I was working on for a client was a hidden link which is: http://www.Tilamerch.com/Shop I was almost done with that until I changed the URL in the general settings because I thought by doing that it will automatically list the site domain as another one that I want to link it to. So I've done everything you listed here, but now when I try to login it still won't let me login to the original WP site I was working on, but instead is still re-directing the login to the other website URL that I initially changed it to. Plus the entire website layout and design is still messed up! Is this something I will also have to re-configure and fix once the URL has been put back to the way it was? Because my original design looked exactly like this: http://demowp.templatesquare.com/fashionistyle/

And now it looks like this: http://www.Tilamerch.com/shop

Thanks I really appreciate everyone's help. I'm on a tight deadline here and I just wish I can get the website back to the way it was! ahhhh!

This was the original Log-in link for the site I was working on:

    http://www.tilamerch.com/shop/wp-admin

But you see how it keeps on re-directing it to another website? You can see it in the URL. That happened when I changed the URL in the general settings. I followed all the steps but it still not working. :(

    Thanks for your help anyway!

Ok I finally got it. It was confusing because there are 5 domains but only 1 main wordpress site so I had to change the URL in the other domain. Thank you for your help! :)
