I need some help. I just switched from a blank slate child theme to a twenty eleven child theme and now I can't see my blog at all. Just a blank white or blue screen. This was fine on my tester blog. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and spent a good part of the day trying to figure this out, to no avail. Please help!
The blog I need to see is: http://www.thelainelist.com
The blog everything is fine on is: http://www.elainegriffindesigns.com/tester
    Thank you!

Well, here's an update. I uninstalled and reinstalled all plugins, which helped. I could see my site. But while my posts and pages were in my dashboard, they were not posted on the site.
Then I was having some issues with WP going to a white screen in dashboard when I made any changes. So I restarted my computer and now I'm getting the white page on my blog and on my dashboard. I can't even log in.
    What is going on??!!

    Try:
    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes and adding "-old" to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    - re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thank you esmi, I will try those things.

Okay, I've done the first two and I have an html page to log in, so that's good. I will go ahead and do the last.
Re: plugin's, how do you figure out which plugin is causing the issue? When I re-uploaded and activated, I went back to the site and refreshed to see if I could spot which was the trouble plugin.
    Thanks again

You need to re-activate the plugins one by one - checking the site after each re-activation - until you find the problematic plugin(s).

I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear. What I meant to say was after each activation, I did go back and refresh. And all was well, and then it wasn't.

Was that after the first plugin re-activation?

Yes it was. I'm just getting back into the dashboard now. I should do it again?

Reset the plugin's folder again but this time, do not activate the first plugin. That may the problem one.

I did that, and I can see the site but no posts, no graphics, no css.

I went through and deactivated the plugins I didn't need for the design. I think it might have been the "subscribe to comments reloaded" plugin, because when I deleted that, I got the same white screen. Maybe I can go activate my theme now?

I can see formatted pages - eg http://www.thelainelist.com/about-laine/

Okay, I reactivated my theme, and I can see that page now. I wasn't able to before. That's good. Any idea about my posts and why they aren't showing?

Have you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

When I did that, I got the blank white screen in my dashboard again.
It did change, though, and it is the same issue with the twenty eleven theme. No posts, just a big comment area.

Re-upload a fresh copy of Twenty Eleven:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/twentyeleven

If that still doesn't work, check your database to see if the posts are still there.

Okay, I did all that, and still no posts. They are in the database and they are in the dashboard. If I click on a tag in the tag cloud on the home page, it takes me to a post.

Sorry, I was fidgeting. It's back. I also uninstalled all the plugin's again. And I noticed, if I choose front page displays latest posts rather than a static page, all the posts are there.

What did you expect to see if you chose a static front page?

That's how it was set before the switch. I must have done that?

Did you add any content to your chosen static front page? Have you reviewed creating a static front page?

    Good morning, Esmi.
With a little rest and fresh eyes and head I'm fine with the static page, thank you.
I've pretty much disabled all the plugins and things seem to be fine. I have no idea which plugin was the culprit. I tested them all, and things would be fine, and then they weren't.
So my issue now is getting my pages to properly display my sidebar. For example, I can't get the post to align to the left on the single posts page. I've been over and over the code, but I can't find the right place. And now I've messed with it so much that I've messed up the pages, and the sidebar is once again aligning under the content.

Start by sorting out the markup errors. Then move onto the CSS errors.

Thanks Esmi. I guess I feel like I either don't understand where the errors are coming from, or they seem to be wordpress or theme errors.
    I don't know. I'm really frustrated.

They are theme errors. One of your stylesheets is complete AWOL for a start...

I saw that - the twenty eleven style sheet? That is from my fresh install, and I checked in my FTP file and I see it there.
Oh, you know, FYI, I'm working on thelainelist.com site, not the tester site.
So anyway, I'm still having the page and single post page sidebar issue, but that is all now.
