Help adding a page with a sidebar (2 posts)

I am using the Comet theme. The pages I have set up so far are static and I didn't want a sidebar so I used the "Wide" template. Now I am adding a blog and I want to have a sidebar on the blog pages.

Comet does have a setting under theme options for a layout with sidebars, but it seems to be global - if I select sidebar it adds one to every page. When I add a new page, the only 2 options for layout are "Default" and "Wide", but they both look the same, with no sidebar.

Do I need to find another theme that will let me assign different templates to different pages? Or is there some code that I can use to customize it? When I go to theme editor I do see files for sidebar-left.php and sidebar-right.php but I don't know enough about php to write code to pull them in, if it can be done.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

Unless you are able to carry out some fairly intensive and possibly advanced PHP coding changes, I'd suggest that you look for another theme.
